Taking evidence in mainland China for use in foreign courts is problematic. Mainland China does not recognize the authority or ability of foreign persons, such as US attorneys, to take depositions of witnesses. It is for this reason that depositions involving mainland witnesses are often conducted in nearby locations, such as Taiwan.
